Chilled vs frozen vs ambient
transport explained
Different products require different temperature conditions to maintain safety, quality, and compliance throughout transportation.
Chilled Transport (0°C to 4°C)
Used for fresh food, dairy, produce, and certain pharmaceuticals. Chilled transport slows bacterial growth and preserves freshness without freezing the product, ensuring food safety and extended shelf life.
Frozen Transport (–18°C and below)
Required for frozen food, ice cream, and temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. Maintaining a consistently low temperature prevents thawing, texture damage, and microbial activity, protecting product integrity over long distances.
Ambient Transport (15°C to 25°C)
Suitable for shelf-stable goods and non-temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. While refrigeration is not required, stable ambient conditions help prevent heat damage, condensation, and quality degradation during transit.
